Speak the Word

Yesterday I read this blog which was exactly what I need for today. Isn't God awesome like that? :) In his post, Steven Furtick talks about speaking the Word of God not just reading it or thinking it but saying it aloud. So today here are a few verses that I am speaking.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

It's been awhile

It's been almost a week since I posted anything so here's a few things going through my head today

• I got my Macbook last week and I am super excited. I'm now in the process of uploading all of my music that I have on CD since my old computer crashed and took with it all of my itunes :(


• I am on Day 19 on A Call to Die almost halfway through and so far so good I am really enjoying and have actaully been consistently reading every day : )


• I also just started reading Crazy Love and I really like it. It's all about how the love that God has for us is crazy. That the same God that created the universe (check out the video Awe Factor on the website) has this crazy awesome love for us. It's a hard idea to grasp.


• Fireproof comes out on DVD this week. I should get it in the mail today or tomorrow. If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. Married or not its an awseome movie.

History

Whether or not you voted for our new president, today is a historical moment. A lot of blogs today are about President Obama and this day in history. All I can say is I may not agree with him but it wasn't a surprise to God that he is our president.

Excited

Igot the new Jeremy Camp cd in the mail today and the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan plus my mac computer shipped today :)

Mac Book

So my computer officially died yesterday. Last night I searched the internet and tried everything I could find to fix it and nothing worked. :( I'll probably end up taking it somewhere to see if I can get any of my files off of it. So I ordered a mac book last night and I am super excited. It should be here within a week. :)

Weekend Update :)

Saw this movie this weekend, loved it but its definitely a chick flick. After the movie, we ate some yummy Mexican food :) and of course stopped at Wal-Mart......






















..... where Michelle got this movie which we went back to her and Brad's to watch :)

A Call to Die

I heard David Nasser speak a few years ago and have always wanted to read this book. I got it in the mail yesterday but haven't started the devotions yet. I was reading the introduction and this will take a lot of commitment. It requires reading, scripture memorizing, and fasting for 40 days. I will probably start this weekend. Anyone ever read it?

Wednesday night

So if anyone has read my blogs lately or my ststus on Facebook the past few days you already know that this has not been a good week for me. Well I glad to say its starting to get better or at least I'm learning to not worry so much. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that last night was Wednesday night so I went to church. I guess I never realized how much just hanging out with fellow Christians really can lift your spirits. We had church supper last night so we had time to just sit around and talk. After Bible Study we played Apples to Apples which is always fun. But in the same way hanging out with nonbelievers can have just the opposite effect on you and most people don't even realize it.

Why

Breathe

That's what I have to tell myself sometimes. Just breathe Kayla it'll be ok. But sometimes it doesn't feel that way. I have been extremely stressed out and worried lately over things I really can't control, which I know is pointless and stupid but hard not to do. I think I'm starting to like this blog thing even if no one reads it (ha ha). It helps to get things off my chest if only for a short amount of time. But even though the last few days haven't been good for me, it seems as if I have heard from God more and more lately. It could be in a song, something on TV, at church, when I've been talking to someone, or even as I'm writing this :). It reminds me that He is ultimately in control and all I need to do is breathe.

There have been times when I've went to church wanting to get something from the message, and of course I have but today I NEEDED to hear from God and because of that I think I was more aware of what the sermon was about. God is so awesome in that he knows exactly what we need to hear at a certain time. Sometimes it feels as though an entire sermon could have been written just for me and even though I know it wasn't, it amazes me how God cares about me that much to align everything so in that moment I can hear from Him. Sometimes words can't even begin to describe His love for us.

I Need Sleep

So I'm definitely in favor of adding a few extra hours to the day. Over the past few days I haven't got much sleep :( Wed. night was New Year's Eve so of course I didn't go to sleep until 1:30. Then got up around 8 New Year's, ended up going shopping with Michelle (which was awesome we got some GREAT deals) got home around 8 and had planned to go to bed early. Got a text to go to the late movie with Brad, Michelle, Kendal, and Caleb. Saw Marley and Me (funny but sad) ended up going to sleep around 1:30 again. Today I went to work all day, came home for about 30 min and then went here to watch the Bama game. The game was no fun but the food was awesome (Thanks Mr. Mike and Ms. Lisa :) So here I am tonight and I may actually get to bed before 1 but I am working tomorrow so I won't get to sleep in :( Oh well there's always Sunday afternoon naps
